DAVENPORT, IOWA – JULY 6TH, 2026 – Join the German American Heritage Center and Museum for our 9th annual Best of the Wurst sausage competition!

 

Sample local brats, purchase a variety of delicious food, enjoy an ice cold beer or pop, and vote for your favorite “wurst!”

 

Join us in the backyard of the German American Heritage Center and Museum, where there will Jerry’s Market will serve up a number of sausages for you to vote the Best of the Wurst. With live entertainment provided by the Guttenberg Band, this event is sure to be a great time.

 

We will have special discounts on memberships, bratwurst tasting, cold beer, family activities, and free ice cream from Here's the Scoop (while supplies last).

 

Members get FREE admission to the event, non-members entrance fee is $5. Children 12 and under are free.

 

There will be delicious German and American beer available and activities for both kids and adults. Thanks to Zimmerman Honda, our premier sponsor for this event. We also want to thank Jerry’s Market, WVIK, and Our Quad Cities for their support.

 

 

 

The Guttenberg German Band, established in 1989, is a 15-20-piece group playing traditional German music, including marches, polkas and waltzes.

 

The band is based out of Guttenberg, Iowa and surrounding area. Its members come from all walks of life, and practice and play together for the love of German music. The group has played for many events over the years in Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois. In the fall of 2005, the band toured and played in Austria and Germany, and in the fall of 2010 in Switzerland and Germany.
