Ever wonder what life really is like in Cuba?
You're invited to hear Dr. Mario Masvidal Saavedra, a professor of history and Cuban culture, talk about "Life and Education in Cuba: Past and Present" from 2-3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19 at the Quad-Cities Campus in
Dr. Masvidal is a professor in the Linguistics Department with the University of the Arts in Havana. In addition to teaching, he hosts a radio talk show and participates in four Cuban television programs.
His visit comes as a result of the trip BHC president Dr. Bettie Truitt and other Illinois community college leaders made to Cuba last February. Their trip was an opportunity to learn and understand the educational system in Cuba and took place just after the United States ties with Cuba were being re-established.
