Job Description
The Career Navigator assists students enrolling in identified programs and works to develop collaboration with employers in identified industry areas in order to connect students with work-based learning experiences, and ultimately with employment. This position will divided time between the Belmont location and Urban Campus.
Required Qualifications
Required minimum of a bachelor's degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Computer proficiency, excellent organizational skills, marketing experience, experience working in a team environment, good communication skills, and exceptional customer service skills preferred.
Physical Demands
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
1. Demonstrates an on-going understanding of identified programs offered through EICC, and the workplace opportunities associated with each program area.2. Works with area employers to develop internship opportunities, and identify employment needs.3. Coordinates intake process that identifies student needs, challenges, and goals. Identifies resources to address any challenge areas.4. Demonstrates a clear understanding of the college application process, financial aid process, and various resources available to assist students.5. Ensures a seamless connection for potential students with program coordinators, financial aid, and support services necessary to student's success.6. Evaluates outcomes annually.7. Responsible for coordinating outreach and recruitment activities in designated area for identified programs.8. Coordinates recruitment efforts with college marketing team.9. Works with area employers to incorporate work-site visits into recruiting events.10. Works with high school and ABE/GED counselors and staff to provide program information, and labor market information.11. Collaborates with ABE/HSE Recruitment Specialists to ensure a seamless transition into training and employment for students.12. Advises students in target areas, and develops educational plans.General:1. Partners with college staff, IowaWORKS, and external partners to ensure efficient utilization of resources and positive transitions for students.2. Is committed to providing quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of internal and external customers.3. Other duties as assigned.
